El Salvador, a photo journal-Part I
We crossed the border to El Salvador hungry for surf. Our first stop was El Zonte where we met our overland family. All the crew wanted to give it a try, and Matty being the good surf instructor he is, took everyone out.
New Year celebrations were done in style, we had a great party with costumes, live music, psychedelic lights, champagne and plenty of good company. Way to start 2017!
We stayed at Saburo's place in el Zonte for many days. It was too comfortable to leave, the wave is just in front, there is a pool and the sunsets were magical. Matty and I were the lasts left in the parking lot when we finally rolled out of there, feeling almost a little lonley.
Finally decided to head south but only for a few kilometers to El Tunco, famous little town with plenty of restaurants, night life, stores and classic waves: Sunzal and La Bocana. We found an epic camping spot by the beach, where Domingo, the care taker, and his family, welcomed us for days and days. We met new overlander friends and eventually also re-united with our classic crew.
Afternoons watching the sunset never get old. The view from our spot was priceless. Soon enough more friends roll into the lot and together we surfed for hours, explored caves, cooked epic dinners, chilled and over all shared really good times.
As it usually happens with us, we were the lasts ones on the lot again. Our friends came and left. We stayed, taking maximum advantage of the inexpensive camping and the closeness to the wave. Plenty of time to chill and surf, I did a lot of both!
Unfortunately we had to leave and head to San Salvador to re-new our visas, but that's another story so stayed tuned for Part II...
